Growing Like A Weed!

Well, Oliver has made it clear that he is comfortable!  Our first vet visit at 9 weeks put him at 6 lb 2 oz. Today, he weighed 8 lb 7 oz!  He has also learned several tricks: sit, stay, down, crawl, up (on his hind legs), high 5 (sometimes) and... "What does Oliver say?".  I fear we taught him to speak too soon because he is quite comfortable "telling" us if he aren't giving him enough attention!  Now, if he could only "tell" us when he has to go potty!

The sun shone for a bit when we got back from the vet... just long enough for a quick modeling session.

I love all his brindle!  It looks like he has highlights!!

Curious George checking out the succulents... wouldn't want to get too close, so we have to stretch!!

 Play Time

He recently learned to go down stairs!

And he loves to sneak bark!

Our handsome boy!

Like Dogfather, Like Dog

Luckily, Mike has been snoring much less!! :)  Because...

DogMom and DogDad have started an elimination diet!  For a few weeks we eat super clean (no wheat, soy, oat, dairy, butter, alcohol, caffeine, ciitrus, etc...)  Basically we eliminate the most common foods that people are sensitive to, then we gradually "challenge" foods!  We are both very committed, and although it is putting a damper on our social calendar, we are feeling great!  Our big purchase for last week was a new juicer... Sounds like a quote from Old School, huh?!

Please ignore the lava lamp in the background.  We received that as a White Elephant gift a month ago...

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

We found this little jacket for Ollie at Target (great price!)... He seems to like it better than the too-big fleece that we have!  He loves to give Mike high-fives when dad has treats!

And he REALLY loves to chew on his rope toys!

 "What Does Oliver Say?"

"WOOF!"

Happy New Year!

So I'm12 days belated... oh well!

We had a few friends over for a Mardi Gras themed New Year's Eve gathering.  Our friend John cooked his famous Jambalaya, and I even baked a traditional "McKenzie" style King Cake!  (It's a New Orleans/Mardi Gras tradition.  You are supposed to hide a small plastic baby in the cake... whoever gets the baby is has good luck for the next year, and they are obligated to bring the cake to the party the following year. John got the baby, and--um--no, it wasn't rigged.  Much.)  I would have had a picture, but it was gone so fast because everyone loved it!

In addition, everyone wore masks, indulged in champagne, aged/cellared beer, and enjoyed (er--ran into) the decorations adorning the ceiling.

Oliver spent the evening looking at us like we were crazy and peeing on the floor.
And then he sacked out on the chair!
...but not before snuggling with the cool kids.

To finally ring in the new year, we donned festive hats and blow horns!  If that didn't annoy the neighbors enough, Mike had the BRILLIANT idea of shooting several confetti cannons.
Yes, cannons.

Happy New Year!  2012 is sure to bring surprises, love, and adventure!

He's Crawling!

At 10 weeks, he's starting to do tricks!

It's Official. Meet Oliver Wilde(man) Rokasy!

Week 1 with our new Rock-dog and we are completely in love.  Mike is head over heels!  We have been taking turns at night with him, but all in all, he's a pretty chill doggy so far!

On Wednesday we went to the first vet visit and got the "all clear" signal.  We were both relieved... because we didn't really research the breeder...oops.  Turns out he is perfectly adorable!

He also met Marci, the best dog walker in the world (http://zippitydodognw.com).  Thankfully we have her to help so we can both work!

In addition, he had his first trip to the KISS Cafe.  He was held, coo-ed, kissed, and oow-ed and aaahh-ed over until he couldn't take any more!  When his eyes were half-mast, we decided it was time to go home... more playtime to come at the cafe, I'm sure!

After the introduction of the dreaded leash...we went for our first walk...

Welcome Little Boy!

After calling, searching, and visiting many shelters, we decided that we really needed a Boston in our lives.  His name is still TBD.

Last night he slept all night!  We woke up once via alarm to take him out.  He is doing surprisingly well with that!  *fingers crossed*

We especially love all his spots and brindle markings.  My favorites are the "third eye" and the red fleck in front of his left ear.

Kathy and Chris came over to meet him and he quickly recognized them as "my kind of people" by jumping and kissing Aunt Kathy's face.
